The 7th April 2025 demonstration by Caroline Cooper ‘The Wonders of the Wye’ was just fantastic.   The colours of the display and the stories of the Wye made for an enjoyable evening.

In March we had an interesting talk on the Open Garden Scheme

Cathryn Brown was an amazing and very competent demonstrator.   We had bern moved to the sixth form centre as the school hall was needed by the school.  No stage didn’t out off Cathryn at all.   She produced 11 raffle prizes for our members and visitors to win.  Each display was amazing.   Check out our Gallery which has a small selection of them for you to view

Our Festive Christmas Open Evening was both entertaining and educational in the use of foam free floral design.   Heavily influenced by sustainability, harmony  and space Nick Grounds floral designs showed how with a little ‘thinking outside of the box’ we can produce sustainable displays without using the dreaded floral foam - or at least the original ones which do not compost and destroy the environment.   Judge for yourself if these innovations in designs are what You want in flower displays

On 4th November Selena Denham inspired us all with her wonderful demonstration of  Circles and Spheres

Our 7th October meeting was a huge success. Jenny York returned by popular demand and regaled us with stories of her travels through Africa.   She produced 11 stunning displays in total, ensuring that nearly a quarter of the hall had raffle prizes to take home.    Monday evening was enjoyable and entertaining - photos in the gallery

On 2nd September our members, together with 8 guests tried their hands at Wreath Making.   Every single wreath was different, yet we all used foliage and plants from our gardens and the hedgerows.   Not only were we busy making wreaths, but we also enjoyed a shared supper of tasty treats and a wonderful fruit punch.

The 5th August has us welcoming Jo Jacobs from Weston Super Mare.   Like so many of you, once Jo found NAFAS it filled her life. Her hobby became her vocation. She has pursued all four disciplines and was thrilled to rise to the dizzy heights of a National Speaker. She enjoys sharing her interests with others and loves the research and the chance to visit hither and yon in pursuit of more facts to add to the presentations. Jo enthralled the Assembly audience in Bath with her presentation, ‘Queen of Spades’, and says that her only problem in her maturity is keeping her memory sharp to share her thoughts with you all (NAFAS.org.uk)
For us Jo presented her demonstration ’Just for you’. Jo showed us many new techniques of using plant material in unfamiliar ways, her bleached and her cinnamon pine cones were a prime example, as was her use of glycerine and dried foliage in a fresh floral display.   Jo certainly deserves all the accolades that proceeded her visit.

On 1st July we had our annual club visit - this year we went to Ridleys Cheer at Mountain Bower, near  Marshfield, followed by a buffet supper at The Bell in Yatton Keynell.
On 3rd June we welcomed Stephanie Cornell, a NAFAS area demonstrator and teacher with her demonstration’View from my Window’.   What a funny and entertaining evening we all had.   It was delightful listening to Stephanie regale us with stories about her travels and her ‘View from her Window’.   Whilst chatting to us, she constructed several displays, all raffled off to lucky members and visitors
