Pippa has been Flower Arranging since childhood, influenced by her parents love of nature. She has been a member of a Flower Club since the age of 22 although with a busy work life as a physiotherapist it wasn’t until retirement that she had more time for Flower Arranging.
Pippa completed a NAFAS level 2 course and would have continued to a higher level if a course was available. She qualified as a NAFAS Area Judge and also enjoys competing. Pippa also completed a NAFAS teaching course as she recognised the dearth of available Flower Arranging Courses. The Club Practice Class is a small way of providing some Flower Arranging education. With the loss of Adult Education Classes there is very little opportunity for people to learn and enjoy this wonderfully creative art form.

Chippenham Flower Club runs a monthly (except December) Practice Class. These classes are designed to teach the beginner, the intermediate and the advanced. There is little opportunity within further education to develop these skills, which will last a lifetime. Flower arranging is an enjoyable, relaxing and calming pastime, suitable for anyone from about 7 years and upwards. It is a fun evening out.
Check out our gallery for our monthly display.
To ensure our practice classes are relevant and ‘on trend’ Pippa uses both her experience, ideas discussed at “desingers forum’, and our own Flower Arranger Magazine. This magazine is available to purchase directly from our club or by clicking the link below, and contains a wealth of interesting and vibrant floral designs along with instructions on how to produce such arrangements.
Our Mission
Our mission is to bring the beauty of nature into people's lives through our stunning floral arrangements. We believe that flowers have the power to brighten up anyone's day and we want to share that joy with our members and visitors, If we can help people gain the skills to display flowers then we are doing a good job,
Come along to our club and release the floral artist from within,
Our October practice class is all about arranging Dried Flowers, the theme could be Halloween, Christmas or any special event. It was a great success and the variety of dried floral arrangements was absolutely amazing. Check the Gallery
Our September practice class is all about seeds and seed heads. Pictures as usual are in the photo gallery
Our August practice class produced many outstanding displays from our wonderfully talented members. A picture tells a thousand stories - so check our picture gallery and view the amazing floral displays in a frame. They are amazing
On 23rd July we have a wonderful practice class - A Display in an unusual container. An example is in our gallery now
What a great Practice Class on 28th May. Pippa brought in some Rustic Wire and most of us used this to make a frame. Others used willow. Once the frame was made we inserted flowers at a 45 degree angle to make a ‘Hand Tied Bouquet’. The point of a frame is to make it easier to hold the planThis was quite a difficult skill to master, but the bouquets all turned out well, some amazingly so. Check out the gallery for pictures of the even.
23rd April Making tubular mechanics to use in a design. Pippa demonstrated the use of grid mesh and tubes which can be used to continue the theme of rhythm and movement. She also suggested using floral wire to construct round mechanics. It’s going to be interesting!
26th March - “And then my heart with pleasure fills, And dances with the daffodils”. The evening certainly lived up to the hype. The 15 members and guests all produced great displays and everyone had a different interpretation
that reflect rhythmic movement and ‘dance’.
27th February - Jump into Spring. Pippa has put in our minds a great challenge for February. Using the principles of Rhythm to create a piece of floral art that embraces the concept, using either Line, Radiation, Repetition
We had some examples from The Flower Arranger, past and present to look at. February‘s class was so
much fun and we were all amazed by how each person interpreted the brief. Check out how Jackie’s orange tulips were so different from Bethany’s Easter theme.
in March we will be displaying Dancing Daffodils.
For all tutorials please bring plant material, dishes and anything else you feel could enhance your design, such as ribbons, stones etc.
Come along and have a fun night out and learn or develop a skill.
